What to include
A little context saves a round trip. Whichever reason you are writing for, the notes below tell us what we need.

| The identifier gave a wrong result | What it said, what you believe it was, and roughly where in the world you are. Range matters a great deal for species. |

| Privacy or data request | Say clearly that it is a data request. See the privacy policy for what we hold, which is very little. |
| Suggest a guide | The species or the question you could not find an answer to. Gaps readers report are how we choose what to write next. |
| Press, licensing, or partnerships | What you need and your deadline. |
What we cannot help with
Being straight about this saves you time when you need a faster answer than we can give.
- Medical questions. We cannot assess a bite or a reaction. For anything worsening, blistering, or with fever or breathing trouble, contact a doctor or emergency services.
- Treating an infestation. We do not visit properties or recommend individual companies. A licensed local professional is the right call.
- Urgent spider sightings. We are not first responders and cannot answer in real time.
- Identifying from a description alone. Without a photo we can rarely do better than the guides already do. Try what bug is this, which is built for exactly that situation.
